Tyler was very active in sports throughout his childhood, starting with minor hockey at age 4. Training as part of a team in a cross training and circuit style was his norm and he enjoyed it. After he retired from junior hockey, though, he lost interest in the standard gym training.
In 2010 Tyler picked up rec hockey but became frustrated that he couldn’t play the way he used to. In 2012 he found CrossFit and was instantly drawn to the community aspect; he felt like he was once again part of a team and thrived in the high intensity, circuit-style, coached environment.
Having been a Paramedic since 2003, Tyler was passionate about helping people avoid the hospital. He decided to open CrossFit 956 where he could build an inviting community that helps people have fun training and stay healthy.
Tracy’s fitness journey began when she was 18 years old. After many years of different gyms, trainers, and programs with ups and downs, struggling to commit to anything 100%, she decided she needed a change.
A few years later, after a short stint as an Emergency Medical Technician, Tracy became a police officer. It was during the recruitment training that she fell in love with the fitness components. She was in the best shape of her life and, in September of 2011, decided to start taking her Personal Training diploma through NAIT.
In the meantime, Tracy met, married, and had two children with Tyler, co-owner of Infinity 5 Fitness. After her second child she realized that her body did not look the same as it did before her pregnancies. After completing a 12-week fitness challenge from September 2013-December 2013 she came in the top 10 out of 25 other contestants. This amplified her drive and passion leading her to compete in May 2014 with the NPAA in Calgary. She even went on to compete in a second show just 2 weeks later with UFE where she placed 7th, completing her goal of ‘top 10’, in the bikini and fitness model categories.
Cody has been doing CrossFit since 2012, when CrossFit Regionals Athlete Steve Howell introduced him to the sport. In 2014, he earned his CrossFit Level 1 certification and began coaching.
Here are a few tidbits about Cody:
“I’m a bit of a nerd, I like my comic books and super heroes! (Captain America and Batman in particular). I’m a meat and potatoes kind of guy, nothing beats a good steak!I’m from Dawson Creek, BC. I’ve lived in Calgary for 11 years. I know it doesn’t look like it, but I’m 30!”
He’s a super nice guy and very knowledgeable, we are very happy and fortunate to have him as a coach!

Here’s a bit about him:
“It was a motorcycle accident in 2008 that would eventually get me involved with Crossfit. I had a lot of mobility and chronic pain issues after my crash that only seemed to get worse when I was at the gym. My physiotherapist at the time had actually got me started doing more of a functional movement program which seemed to help…
Fast forward to 2010 I had joined a Crossfit gym and started coaching in 2012. I’ve had the opportunity to run hundreds of people through their first experiences with Crossfit and love watching them progress. I have an athletic background in track & field and martial arts; but now you’ll find me training in the box.”
Keith, thanks for all the help to this point and welcome to the team.
Chris a flight paramedic with Alberta Health Service and has been involved in the CrossFit community for three years. He completed his CF-L1 at NorCal CrossFit San Jose. He keeps active in hockey, snowboarding and skiing in the winter while pursuing mountain biking and paddle boarding in the summer. He’s currently endeavoring to learn to surf.
Jodi and her husband Jason have been members at the gym for a while. As with the sport, it is important to vary the types of activity you do; Yoga is especially important as it focuses on balance, mobility, and strength. Jodi has been teaching yoga at the gym and graciously hosted our first ever Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) event in August 2016. You can tell right away she is passionate about health and fitness when you first meet her.

“As an active mother of 2 busy girls, I am always looking for new and exciting ways to stay healthy and fit. I joined the Cross Fit community in May of 2016. I lived in Australia from 1996-2002, where my passion for health and wellness was ignited.
I studied massage therapy in 2000 and hold the equivalency of 2,200 hours of training. My passion for yoga also transpired, in 2012 , I became a certified yoga instructor . In the summer months, I like to spend time in my outside office, teaching SUP and SUP Yoga.During the winter, you can find me skiing snow shoeing or “sipping” red wine, while escaping out to Canmore.”
